How a pet-tech brand defined a tracker and collar integration program.
An integrated bracket, sampled on the buyer’s own collar, treated as enclosure scope rather than an accessory.

Buyer details not disclosed. Commercial identity and purchase volume are not disclosed.
02
The starting constraint
The brand had a collar design in production and wanted a tracker that attached without a second pouch, but the attachment changed the load on a strap that had already been tested for weight distribution.
Any mount added to the collar also changed the enclosure the evidence would refer to, so the product decision and the document decision had to be made together.
03
Product scope and delivery
| Customer requirement | Delivered scope |
|---|---|
| Attachment | No separate pouch; direct integration with the collar |
| Profile | Low enough not to catch on fur or harness straps |
| Weight | Must not disturb the existing collar balance |
| Evidence | Enclosure change recorded against the model |

04
The process and key decisions
- 01
Brief review
Collar strap, weight limits and the existing test record were reviewed before any housing was proposed.
- 02
Product and platform selection
The attachment was defined as part of the enclosure, which changed the evidence scope from "accessory" to "model".
- 03
Physical sample
A bracket sample was produced and fitted to the buyer’s collar for a weight and comfort check.
- 04
Revision and validation
The bracket profile was revised after the fit review; the housing edge was softened at the same time.
- 05
Evidence and market review
Because the enclosure changed, the model record was re-scoped rather than reused from the standard format.
- 06
Production release
Release was held until the revised bracket and its instructions were both approved.
Validation points
- Bracket fitted to the buyer’s collar strap
- Weight and comfort checked by the buyer
- Enclosure re-scoped in the model record
05
Verified outcome
Verified project facts
- Bracket sampled against the buyer’s own collar
- Enclosure treated as model scope, not accessory scope
- Release held until instructions matched the bracket
Supplier process
- Defined the attachment before the housing
- Sampled the bracket on the real strap
- Re-scoped the model record for the new enclosure
Buyer-approved outcome
Program progressed to production planning. Volumes are not disclosed.
Not disclosed
Quantity, order value, sell-through and commercial results for this program. Reference contacts are shared only with buyer permission.
Evidence scope: The integrated bracket makes this a distinct enclosure. Evidence for the standard pet format does not transfer. Production control: Sample-based release with a fit check recorded per batch.
06
Scope boundaries and next steps
- The collar itself is the buyer’s product and stays outside our scope.
- Strap strength testing remains the buyer’s responsibility.
- Platform status must be confirmed for the final firmware build.
- A change to the bracket geometry restarts the enclosure review.
- Custom tooling is quoted separately.
